Bob Silton is an LGBTQ Chicago area designer who has worked in commercial/interior design, event planning, and theatrical design for over 20 years. Bob began his entrepreneurial journey as a freshman in high school, opening a children’s theater camp in his parent’s backyard.  This children’s theatre rapidly grew by word of mouth to become one of Chicagoland’s leading children’s theatre programs and went on to run for 17 years.

Bob has worked for such companies as The Marriott Theatre-Lincolnshire IL, Drury Lane Theatre-Oakbrook Terrace IL, La Jolla Playhouse-La Jolla CA, Leggy Bird Designs–Libertyville IL, and Joseph’s Events–Libertyville IL.  He has also used his design skills to assist numerous restaurants on the Northshore of Chicago.  Mr. Silton is currently the Set Designer for Big Deal Productions and Sarah Hall Theatre Company as well as the Production Manager for Music Theater Works.

Bob has a passion for all things Mid Century Modern, Home Goods, Broadway Divas, and Lady Gaga.

WHAT WE DO

INTERIOR: Creating intimate and unique dining experiences at restaurants across the Northshore of Chicago. Design credits include Inovasi and The Otherdoor (Lake Bluff), Wisma (Lake Bluff, Libertyville, Chicago), Moderno and Salt Creek Tacos (Highland Park). Bob is ready and able to work with his clientele in any genre, while pulling inspiration from Coastal, Mid Century Modern, and Palm Springs.

THEATRICAL: Bob has worked professionally in the theatre world for the past 20 years, both on and off stage. Bob was the founder/artistic director of Encore Theatre in Libertyville, IL for 17 years. He has run crew at The Marriott Theatre Lincolnshire and Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook. He has been a venue manager for the With Out Walls Festival with La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, CA. Bob has designed sets and props as well as stage managed for companies such as Big Deal Productions, Northwestern University, Up & Coming Theatre, Sarah Hall Theatre, Golden Ticket Productions, Highland Park Players, Metropolis Performing Arts Center, Music On Stage, and Big Noise Theater. Bob has also taken a turn as a Producer, producing the band Rockapella (from Where in The World is Carmen San Diego fame) at The Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, IL as well as Ellen Greene (Original Audrey from the off-Broadway/Film Little Shop of Horrors) in TORCH in P-town, MA and London, England.

EVENTS: It sounds cliché, but Bob’s goal in event planning is always creating celebrations that inspire memories to last a lifetime. Bob has worked on designing numerous events from Sports/Theatre Fundraisers, Themed Wine Dinners, Themed Parties, Baby Showers, Backyard Weddings, and more. Bob worked as designer with Joseph Events in Libertyville, IL. Bob loves a reason to celebrate with some sparkle and a little bubbly!
